Understanding Work and Organizational Psychology
Given the recent "misbehaviours" in organizations that dominate the headlines-Lehman Brothers, Enron, AIG, and CitiGroup, to name a few. We have come to realise that it is not sufficient for us as managers to emphasize the positive, desirable behaviours but also a strong understanding of employee misbehaviour that are prevalent in organizational life is critical for the long term success of any organization.
Organizational Misbehavior (OMB) is a term that was coined by Yaov Vardi about 10 years ago when he found out there were no models for how to predict "misconduct" at work. Thus, the purpose of this workshop is to explore some of the recent case studies concerning workplace misbehaviour (OMB) by identifying the antecedents of OMB, the different manifestations of OMB, and try to determine their causes and costs.
This workshop is not just focus on corporate leaders but also, the misbehaviour by normal employees and the "misreading" by management of the meaning of these varied misbehaviours. It aims to equip participants with an understanding of employee which is critical for them to understand and manage this situation effectively. We will also attempt to determine ways in which expressions of OMB may be managed and their damaged contained.
