Program Objectives
This workshop is designed for business leaders and managers who are responsible for executive performance and team management within their division or across the whole organisation. The workshop covers the core coaching competencies and techniques used by international managers to get the best out of their people. Coaching has become the preferred management practice for many global companies

Mr Mark Powell
Mark is the Asia based director for Praesta International. Praesta is the world leading executive coaching company with 20 offices and 100 coaches working across the globe. Mark has been based in Asia for the past 9 years and has clients in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia and Australia. These clients include both local and expatriate senior executives across a range of industries including Financial Services; Professional Services; Oil and Gas; Software and Technology; FMCG. Previously Mark operated his own executive search and coaching practice where he was involved in over 100 senior placements for global banking, financial services and consulting companies and was ranked in the top 5 funds management headhunters in the 2004 Asiamoney poll and again personally rated in 2 categories in the 2005 headhunters poll. His prior corporate experience includes 12 years with large international companies: Citibank, Macquarie Bank and Shell, where he held senior line management positions in sales, marketing and product management. As an entrepreneur he has launched and operated a small publishing business and a high end furniture business in Sydney. This entrepreneurial flare remains and Mr Powell brings a creative spirit to his work.
He is a NLP trained facilitator and a trained executive coach and combines these formal processes with decades of pragmatic business experience in his coaching of senior executives. Mr. Powell holds a Bach of Economics (Qld Uni) ; Dip of Education (Qld Uni);Grad Dip Business Administration (QUT); Grad Dip Applied Finance. He is a Fellow of Securities Institute of Australasia. He is a graduate of the Coach U Fast Track Program and is a member of the International Coach Federation. He is a regular speaker and presenter at events in Asia

Outline
Part 1: The Art of Good Questions
As managers we often find it easy to instruct and more challenging to ask questions. Yet a good question will open new doorways, will help build respect and rapport, will create an environment of discovery and enquiry and will build motivation amongst the team. We will take participants through the process and techniques for developing and asking insightful questions.
Part 2: Deep Listening
Research has demonstrated that there are few workplace behaviors more powerful than receiving someone's focused attention. Attentive listening fosters a powerful interaction that increases motivation. It is together with questioning the simplest way of generating new possibilities.
Part 3: Strategising
Strategising whether in a 5 min coaching session or in a longer team facilitation involves 3 core ingredients: idea generation; interpretation and integration. To first generate options we discuss past experiences & future ideas. We use metaphors and stories to help interpret and we develop solution focused action plans to integrate and move forward.
Part 4: Positive Motivation
Motivating staff to stay positive and continue to develop and learn is one of the core skills for a modern leader. A leader with these core skills will transform organisations and create teams that demonstrate resilience and over-performance.
