The objective of this 2 Day Masterclass is to deepen the participant's understanding of the initiating factors, the processes, the alternatives, the complications and the possible outcomes of mergers and related corporate restructurings. Key questions that will be explored include why and how firms merge and restructure, the effects on the stock prices, capital structure (debt versus equity) and market power.
Legal, ethical and regulatory aspects of the mergers will also be considered. The goal is to equip the participant with the skills and knowledge to participate in these exercises as a target advisor, an investor or an initiator.

Professor Piskula is a member of the Baruch College Economics and Finance Department faculty. His research interests include international mergers and acquisitions, economic development, and corporate governance of multinational firms. He has extensive experience as a fixed-income investment professional.
With Citibank, he managed multi-billion dollar portfolios of short-term assets funded by cash collateral from lending the securities of Citibank customers. Customers included large multinational firms and European and Asian central banks. With Prudential (US) he managed portfolios across the risk spectrum. He served as Chief Investment Officer for PruLiquidity Asset Management and a Managing Director for Prudential Global Advisors. He provided expertise in mortgage- and asset-backed securities and both corporate and sovereign emerging market debt.
